The EAC Certificate for personal protective equipment is an approval document for export to Russia and EAEU countries. The EAC certification for personal protective equipment is carried out in accordance with the safety requirements of the Technical Regulation TR CU 019/2011 - on the safety of personal protective equipment.

The regulations of the Technical Regulation TR CU 019/2011 detail the EAC safety standards for personal protective equipment (PPE) and apply all binding EAC standards for the protection of life, health, and the environment in the EAEU member states.

Certification of Personal Protective Equipment

The EAC approval of personal protective equipment is carried out in the form of EAC declaration or EAC certification. In the EAC approval of personal protective equipment, PPE is divided into two risk categories. The EAC approval is carried out according to the risk categories of personal protective equipment.

Risk Assessment of Personal Protective Equipment

1. Risk Category - Category one includes personal protective equipment (PPE) that has a rather simple design and poses low risks to users. EAEU conformity is confirmed by the EAC declaration.

2. Risk Category - Category two includes personal protective equipment (PPE) that has a more complex design and poses high risks to users. EAEU conformity is confirmed by the EAC certification.

Accompanying Documents for EAC Approval

The following documents and materials are required for the EAC certification or EAC declaration of personal protective equipment (PPE):

  • Technical passport
  • User manual
  • Safety assessment
  • Product and production description
  • Certificate of the quality management system
  • Existing certificates such as GOST, CE, or ISO
  • Data sheets and test protocols

The documents and materials for the EAC certification of PPE must be prepared in the official language of the member state of the Eurasian Economic Union.

EAC Certification for PPE

The EAC certification of personal protective equipment is conducted by an accredited certification body. The EAC approval procedures are mandatory for all market participants as stipulated by the regulations of the technical regulation TR CU 019/2011 - Safety of personal protective equipment (PPE) of the Eurasian Economic Union.

Schemas of EAC Certification:

  • 1C schema – is intended for the EAC certification of PPE for series production.
  • 3C and 4C schemas - are intended for partial deliveries of PPE.
  • 5C and 6C schemas - are intended for the commissioning of PPE.

An EAC certificate is issued for a period of 1 to 5 years and must be renewed annually through inspection control.

EAC Declaration for PPE

The EAC declaration is carried out in accordance with the mandatory regulations of the technical regulations TR CU of the EAEU countries.

The certification body reviews the manufacturer's documents and registers an EAC declaration in the register of the accreditation authority. The EAC declaration for protective equipment is carried out in accordance with the regulations of the technical regulation TR CU 019/2011 – Safety of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Schemas of EAC Declaration:

  • 1D and 3D schemas – are intended for the EAC declaration of series production.
  • 2D and 4D schemas - are intended for partial deliveries of PPE.

An EAC declaration is issued for a period of 1 to 5 years. An inspection control is not provided for the EAC declaration.

EAC Marking of PPE

EAC certified products are marked with the EAC marking of the EAEU countries. The requirement for the EAC marking is conformity with the regulations of the technical regulation TR CU 019/2011. The marketing of non-EAC marked goods is prohibited.

Requirements for EAC Marking:

  • Dimensions of at least 5 mm
  • Monochrome coloring
  • Clear color contrast

Validity and Costs of EAC Certification

The validity period of EAC approvals (EAC certificates or EAC declarations) for protective equipment (PPE) ranges from 1 to 5 years. EAC certificates are confirmed annually through inspection control. EAC declarations are not subject to inspection controls and do not need to be re-confirmed every 12 months.

The process of EAC certifications or EAC declarations is complex and can take several weeks or months. The costs of EAC certification for personal protective equipment depend on several factors, such as risk factors or complexity of the equipment.

Thus, the costs of EAC certification or EAC declaration are calculated individually for each product.
