For EAC Certification of ATEX Equipment used in potentially explosive atmospheres in Russia and in the EEU States, an EAC Ignition Hazard Assessment must be performed as part of the EAC Approval. An EAC Ignition Hazard Assessment for EX equipment and EX devices is issued in accordance with the provisions of the Technical Regulation TR CU 012/2011 and is a mandatory measure for the certification of explosion-hazardous devices and equipment.
The Ignition Hazard Assessment confirms that the minimum safety requirements of the Technical Regulation TR CU 012/2011 are met. The Technical Regulation TR CU 012/2011 was developed following the European ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU on the harmonization of the Member States' Regulations for equipment for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. Thus, individual EU and EAC Standards are identical in most cases and largely harmonized. However, ATEX Certification does not exempt equipment from the need to be certified according to Eurasian Economic Union Standards.
The Ignition Hazard Assessment is performed according to the following standards:
The Ignition Hazard Assessment is performed in six steps:
The risk that an ignition source may occur is assessed and evaluated. According to the Regulations of TR CU 012/2011, the manufacturer is required to minimize the ignition hazards.
For each identified fire hazard, appropriate protective measures (depending on the determined error conditions) must be stipulated and supported with necessary evidence as well as technical documentation.
This step compares the fire hazard with the protective measures and determines if additional protective measures need to be taken for successful EAC Certification.

The duration and cost of preparing the EAC Ignition Hazard Assessment depends on both the specific product and industry, as well as the related Technical Regulations and necessary tests. For detailed information, please contact us, we will be happy to help you.
According to the Regulations of the EEU States, it is mandated that the manufacturer must have a registered office in the Common Economic Territory of the EEU Countries in order to apply for EAC Approval. Should that not be the case, a contract person of the manufacturer is required to carry out the certification processes in the EEU Countries. As a rule, a distributor of the manufacturer from the Eurasian Economic Union states acts as the applicant. In these cases, it is necessary to take into account that after EAC Certification, only this distributor owns the exclusive right of distribution for the whole certification period and must issue an authorization for sales activities.
In such situations, the manufacturer becomes dependent on his business partner, who acted as the manufacturer's authorized contract person for EAC Certification. If you wish to remain independent of individual distributors, we can provide you with a contract person. This task can be performed by our Russian branch in Moscow or Novosibirsk. After successful certification, we will issue an authorization for sales activity to all your distributors.
If over time you decide to part with certain distributors or engage new ones, we will assist you with all your decisions and adjust the authorization accordingly. For detailed explanations regarding the position of a contract person, please contact our team and we will be glad to advise you.
