What is the EAC Marking?

The EAC marking (Eurasian Conformity) is a legally required safety and conformity mark for products that are placed on the market in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). It indicates that a product complies with the technical regulations of the EAEU states and meets all safety, environmental and health protection requirements.

The EAC mark is comparable to the CE mark in the EU. Without the EAC mark, products may not be legally sold, imported or operated in the EAEU states (Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia or Kyrgyzstan).

What does the EAC Mark look like?

The EAC mark consists of a uniform, stylized EAC logo in black on a light background. It must be clearly visible, legible and permanently affixed to the product and the packaging. Depending on the type of product, it may also be affixed to the operating instructions or the rating plate.

When is the EAC Marking required?

The EAC marking is always required if a product:

  1. is subject to the technical regulations (TR CU/EAEU),
  2. is to be sold, imported or operated in the EAEU area,
  3. as previously received an EAC certificate or an EAC declaration.

Marking takes place after a conformity assessment and is mandatory:

  1. Electrical equipment and machinery
  2. Construction products, packaging and furniture
  3. Food, cosmetics and clothing
  4. Protective equipment, toys and household appliances
  5. Vehicle parts, production equipment and computer technology

Who is responsible for the EAC Marking?

The responsibility for the correct application of the label lies with

  1. the manufacturer,
  2. the EAEU representative (Authorized Representative),
  3. or the importer, if the manufacturer is located outside the EAEU.

These persons or companies must ensure that:

  1. the product has been correctly assessed,
  2. the EAC mark is affixed in accordance with applicable regulations,
  3. and that all relevant technical documentation is available.

Where must the EAC Mark be affixed?

The marking must be present on the following elements:

  1. Product
  2. Packaging
  3. Type plate
  4. Operating instructions
  5. Accompanying documentation

For technical products, the mark is often applied directly to the device, the type plate or the label.

Important: The marking must be affixed before import into the EAEU.

How is EAC Marking carried out?

  1. Conformity assessment: either by EAC certificate or EAC declaration
  2. Entry in the EAEU register: by an EAC certification body
  3. Application of the EAC mark: after successful certification

Marking is only permitted after certification has been completed.

What happens if the labeling is missing or incorrect?

Missing or incorrect labeling leads to:

  1. Refusal of import by customs
  2. Damage to the brand image
  3. Sales bans
  4. Loss of trust
  5. Product recalls
  6. Fines

Timely, correct and comprehensible labeling is therefore crucial for admission to the EAEU market.

Which products do not require an EAC Label?

Products that:

  1. Do not fall under TR CU regulations of the EAEU states,
  2. are only imported for personal use or individual samples,
  3. are not brought into the free movement of goods (e.g. exhibition pieces).

Caution: In many cases, a conformity assessment is still required, for example for deliveries to authorities or major customers.

What is the legal basis for EAC Labeling?

The legal basis is regulated in the respective technical regulations of the EAEU:

  1. For which products labeling is mandatory,
  2. how the conformity assessment must be carried out,
  3. what the labeling must look like,
  4. which documents are required.

The EAC marking is the official proof of EAEU market approval.

It shows that the product:

  1. Complies with the technical regulations,
  2. has been tested and conformity assessed,
  3. may be sold in the EAEU internal market.

Without this mark, import and sale are illegal, with serious consequences. The marking is therefore mandatory, a signal and proof of trust in one marking.

What is the EAC marking and why is it important?
The EAC marking (Eurasian Conformity) is a safety and conformity mark for products sold in the EAEU states. It indicates that a product meets all requirements for safety, environmental protection, and health protection. Without it, products cannot be legally imported into the EAEU market.
Who is responsible for affixing the EAC marking?
The responsibility lies with the manufacturer, the EAEU representative (Authorised Representative), or the importer if the manufacturer is located outside the EAEU. They must ensure that the product has been properly assessed and that the labeling has been carried out correctly.
What are the consequences of a missing EAC marking?
Missing or incorrect EAC markings can lead to import refusals by customs, sales bans, damage to brand image, and fines. Therefore, correct labeling is crucial for market access.
Which products do not require EAC marking?
Products that do not fall under the technical regulations of the EAEU and are imported only for personal use or as a single sample do not require EAC marking. However, in many cases, a conformity assessment is still necessary.
How is the EAC marking applied?
The marking is carried out after a successful conformity assessment, either through an EAC certificate or an EAC declaration. Thereafter, the EAC mark is affixed in a clearly visible manner on the product, the packaging, and the accompanying documents.
